Boardwalk Empire star Stephen Graham was back in Liverpool to cheer on aspiring film-makers.
The Kirkby actor was VIP guest last night at a special screening at FACT, which showcased the work of young people from Knowsley.
Film-makers from Liverpool John Moores University’s Screen School and pupils from the seven learning centres in the borough were involved in the video project.
The UnScene Project was set up by Neet TV, a Knowsley Enterprise Academy initiative to help young people explore the potential of a career in the media industry.
Movie star Stephen said: “I heard about the Unseen Project through my friend Lee Turner who is a youth worker. I was interviewed by Neet TV when I was filming This Is England.
‘‘It’s a great thing for these kids to have their films screened.
“I had the Everyman Youth Theatre and it’s great they have somewhere to go and make films and find out about different aspects of the industry.”
Topics covered by the project include mental health, racism, learning difficulties and problems linked to young people in the care system.
Sue Temple-Fielding, enterprise academy manager, said: “It’s been very pleasing to see the enthusiastic way the young people have tackled this project, and the creativity of their various approaches. They have produced some excellent work which has really impressed everyone who has seen it so far. Our view is that the films deserve to be seen by a wider audience which is why we have arranged this event.”
